Sketchbooks

Sometimes, in order to look for interesting marks and feel more free, instead of focusing on precise and realistic drawing, I simply start making some quick sketches.

Over the years I have learned to draw what I see.. but at this point I’m trying to draw what I feel. Structuring and destructuring the subjetc.

Have you ever tried to draw or write with your eyes closed, with the not preferred hand or without ever taking your pencil off the paper?

Nature is full of inspiring elements: original shapes, textures, colours.

If you concentrate on the beauty of this process of abstraction, the drawing will be full of wandeful surprises and interesting marks.

Sometimes, while drawing, I start thinking about writing, not too long sentences but simple words, so that Drawing and Writing collapse finally together.

Cutting and recomposing all the pieces of paper in sketchbooks is a good way to change the point of view and it’s useful to give a new energy to experimental works that, at first sight, you didn’t like. These exercise books are also a good source of inspiration for starting new compositions.
